Cafe Supervisor (Temporary Six Month Contract)


In 2018, Bolton Hospice opened The Old Bank Café in Astley Bridge. It soon became a hub in the community, while at the same time raising much needed funds to allow the hospice to provide expert care for local people when they need it most.  Whether you want a delicious breakfast, a cup of coffee or a slice of cake our café is the place to be. We are now looking for an enthusiatic, friendly and passionate individual to support the smooth running of our café.  This role is a fixed term contract for six months which will be reviewed after this period.

£11.44 per hour WTE

Part Time, 27.5 hours per week 

(Flexible over 6 days Mon – Sat)

Temporary, 6 month contract

The Role:

Reporting to the Café Manager and working closely with a team of volunteers and other paid members of staff you will oversee the smooth running of the café on the manager’s days off and support the smooth running of the café whilst working with the the Café Manager.  This will include assisting in the preparation of food and drink, serving customers and maintaining cleanliness standards in the Café by means of approved methods.  A flexible and hands on approach to work is essential.  The appointed Café Supervisor will be responsible for the provision of a high quality and efficient, customer orientated cafe services.

What you need:

This is a hands on role involving preparing food and drink and serving customers, so you’ll need to be comfortable working in both a practical role and in a supervisory capacity. You’ll need to have experience in a similar environment and a level 2 food hygiene and safety certificate (although we will provide the training for this qualification if you don’t have it already), plus a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The successful candidate will also be able to supervise a team of comitted team members, offering support and guidance, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and thrive in a busy environment.
