Deb and Oliver's 'My Memories Walk' tribute

This year you can make every step count by taking part in the Bolton Hospice 'My Memories Walk' event - a 10,000 step virtual sponsored walk, taking place on Saturday 19th June 2021.

Deb Isherwood explains why she is taking part in this year’s memory walk:

“My dad Gerry was a very proud, amazing and caring man who fought a long battle against prostate cancer for a number of years; however, when the pain levels and required care became overwhelming we were introduced to Bolton Hospice.

From first arriving, the team at Bolton Hospice worked so hard to make Dad comfortable and couldn’t do enough for us as a family. Over Dad’s month long stay at the hospice they helped us celebrate our last Christmas together, through laughter and tears they became our extended family, for which I will forever be grateful!

In an effort to say thank you, my son Oliver and I are taking part in the 'My Memories Walk' to help raise money so Bolton Hospice can provide love and care to other local families like ours through difficult times.

Please join us whilst enjoying the outdoors after what has been such a trying period for all, whilst raising money so that Bolton Hospice can continue to provide such a priceless service to your family, friends and neighbours!”

Registration is just £8 and includes a 'My Memories Walk' t-shirt and medal posted out to you, plus a downloadable e-pack filled with resources to help with your fundraising and to make your walk extra special. There is also a special ‘My Memories Walk Merchandise Day’ being held at Giles House (located near the entrance to the main Hospice) on Saturday 29th May, 9.30am-12pm – your chance to buy iconic Memories Walk merchandise, such as bunny ears, cowboy hats, tutu's, lanterns, and much more!

You can also register to take part in the event for free, which includes the downloadable e-pack and a certificate.

Everyone that takes part and walks to make their steps count this June, will have access to a special podcast as the soundtrack to their Memories Walk - with messages, personal dedications and entertainment by Bolton FM.
