Children’s author raises funds with festive poem

Yvonne Weatherhead MBE has been writing children’s books for many years and was previously the Headteacher of Marland Hill Primary School in Rochdale.  This Christmas she has released another of her popular ‘Flying Grandma’ poems, with all funds raised going to Bolton Hospice.

The ‘Flying Grandma’ poems are inspired by the stories the author creates with her grandchildren.  In her latest story poem the Flying Grandma, which is based on a caricature of Yvonne, uses rainbow dust to help children and animals fall asleep on Christmas Eve.

“I have orders every year from many families for the ‘Flying Grandma’ poems, as they say it helps start the magic of Christmas!”

Yvonne sings in a local group with a member of staff from Bolton Hospice, and she knows that all patients there are nurtured and cared for at the highest level possible.

“This dedicated team of professionals deserve all the support we can give them, especially in these present challenging times. I am in awe of all their hard work and dedication and wish to thank them most sincerely.”

The poem can be downloaded here and includes exclusive illustrations by Andy Chubb, who very kindly created the images for the poem for free.

Donations for the hospice should be made via Yvonne’s Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/yvonne-weatherhead2
