A Touching Tribute: New Art Installation Unveiled at Bolton Hospice
Bolton Hospice, together with Create Bolton, hosted an Ice Cream Sunday event, on Sunday, August 11th, at its Wellbeing Hub.
The special occasion did not only offer delicious ice cream and family-friendly activities but also marked the unveiling of a remarkable art installation.
As part of the Create Well project, the hospice collaborated with Create Bolton to create a unique art piece: a Murmuration of Woven Willow Starlings.
This awe-inspiring installation features over 80 unique willow starlings, each carrying personal messages of love and remembrance. The installation aims to symbolize hope, resilience, and the power of community.
In addition to the art unveiling, attendees enjoyed ice cream, engaged in creative activities, and learnt more about the important work of Bolton Hospice.
Funds for the project were generously raised through the "Memories of Mary" exhibition held in memory of Mary Rudkin, and willow was provided by Nitin Patel, both of whom have experienced the specialist care and support of Bolton Hospice.
Mary Stubbs, Creative Therapist at Bolton Hospice, said, “We were so excited to unveil the beautiful display of hand-woven starlings, with messages and dedications from so many local families. The event was a really special opportunity for people to come together to remember and celebrate loved ones, while also helping to create precious memories for families who were able to join us.”
