Tess at Work
An unusually furry and four-legged member of our specialist team carried out their rounds this week, bringing joy to patients, staff and volunteers alike.
Therapy dog Tess regularly visits us to meet people at the Wellbeing Hub and Inpatients, their families, and staff and volunteers. Trained in the art of creating a relaxing and therapeutic environment, Tess helps those facing terminal and life-limiting illnesses to focus on their wellbeing and alleviate anxiety they may have.
Tess’ visit was a particularly welcome event for inpatient John, who is a self-proclaimed family man and dog lover.

John is currently staying at the hospice after a diagnosis of aggressive pelvic cancer left him unable to move out of bed. With the help of our specialist team, providing vital care and support to help manage his symptoms, this week John has been able to stand up out of bed for the first time in months.
John’s visit from Tess was a welcome reward after reaching such a significant milestone in his care.
