Brains of Bolton
Calling all pubs, clubs, groups and families in Bolton! Could you host a Brains of Bolton Quiz this October to help raise vital funds for Bolton Hospice?
Taking part is easy!
Each Quiz Master will get a pre-written quiz (or you can create your own), posters, a collection pot and bunting to display on the night. All you have to do is choose a date in October and get started, it’s as simple as that!
- Choose a date in October.
- Select a venue – Ask your local pub or club if they will help support your event. Or if you are a pub Landlord, why not organise a quiz for your community.
- Entry fee - Decide how much you are going to charge. It’s usually a good idea to sell tickets in advance as well as on the door. Will you charge per person or per team? A maximum of four people can make up a team and we would suggest charging £10-15 per team or £3-5 per person.
- Publicise your event – We will advertise all organised quizzes on our website but it’s also a good idea to create a Facebook event to invite all your friends and ask them to invite their friends too. Posters are included in your fundraising pack which you can display in your venue and around local shops.
- Quiz questions – once you have registered to host a quiz, we will send the event organiser the quiz questions and answers along with a fundraising pack.
- Extras - Think about what other things you can do on the night to raise a little more money. Raffles are always very popular but there are lots of ways you help boost your fundraising efforts like a tombola, sell food / cakes, hold an auction or play the game heads and tails between a round.
- After your quiz, please let the hospice fundraising team know who was your winning team so that we can invite them to our Brains of Bolton Grand Final at Heaton Cricket Club on Wednesday 8th November where they will battle it out to be crowned our Brains of Bolton champions.

Ray Taylor and family hold a quiz at Bradshaw Cricket Club every year and last year raised a magnificent £3020 for Bolton Hospice!!!
"Along with my wife Sue we have been running fundraising quizzes for eleven years, and find them both enjoyable and rewarding, with many of the participants looking forward to the next one. Initially we raised funds in memory of a friend's mum, supporting the hospice and other charities, but now all the funds go towards the hospice.
"We charge £8 including supper costing £3 but realise this could be a lot for someone's first quiz and would suggest £3 or £5 with a basic supper for example hot dogs or a sandwich."
