Bereavement, Emotional & Spiritual Support at the hospice
John Hall is our Spiritual Care & Bereavement Support Lead. Part of his role at the hospice is to support any staff member or volunteer who would like bereavement or spiritual and emotional support. John can be approached for advice, support and additional resources and this support is confidential.

Resilience based supervision
A form of restorative clinical supervision for staff which focuses on the ‘emotional systems motivating the response to a situation’ and includes elements of mindfulness-based exercises with a view to enhancing wellbeing, resilience and improving care.
This takes the form of facilitated reflective discussions in small groups over 6 sessions.
Currently for patient-facing staff with aim to expand to other staff in future.
Information will be emailed to you when we are forming new cohort, with the opportunity for you to express your interest.
Freedom to Speak Up Guardian
The Freedom to Speak Up Guardian supports staff and volunteers to speak up when they feel that they are unable to do so by other routes. They ensure that people who speak up are thanked, that the issues they raise are responded to, and make sure that the person speaking up receives feedback on any actions taken as a result.
John Hall is our Freedom to Speak Up Guardian.
In addition to this Linda Duckworth, one of our Trustees, is the Freedom to Speak Up Champion on the Board of Trustees

Just ‘B’ in partnership with Hospice UK
A telephone support service for clinical staff working in hospices. The goal is to provide bereavement, resilience and emotional wellbeing support in a timely manner to those who need it.
During your call you'll be provided with 1-1 emotional wellbeing and bereavement support. Just 'B' can also signpost you to relevant services, as well as offer information and advice.
Following your initial support call, you also have the option to be referred into Just 'B's counselling service. This service provides you with wellbeing and resilience support for up to six sessions, all of which are carried out via telephone.
Send a quick email to wellbeing@justb.org.uk. You will receive a support call from Just ‘B’ within one working day.
Calls are always made between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
