Meet two valuable volunteers at Furniture Plus
Meet Joseph and his mum, Joanne. Joseph has been volunteering for 10 years at Bolton our Furniture Plus shop, located on Manchester Road. Joseph faces challenges in securing employment due to being deaf and having learning difficulties. He started volunteering to help improve skills and gain more experience. Joe found a supportive and empowering environment at the charity shop.
"I love volunteering at Furniture Plus," Joseph shares. "It's given me a huge confidence boost and allows me to develop new skills. I have met lots of fantastic people volunteering at Furniture Plus."
His mum, Joanne, joined the volunteering team at Furniture Plus to spend precious time with Joseph. "It's fun to be able to spend time with each other, and I love seeing Joe happy," Joanne explains. Together, they have found new friendships within the team, and both enjoy connecting with customers, helping them find exactly what they need. Both Joe and his mum love to volunteer and both gain so much from volunteering.
Joanne highlights the inclusive nature of the team: "Everyone has accepted him really well, and it's amazing to see him fit in somewhere." For both Joseph and his mum, volunteering has become a special part of their life where they can spend time together and give something back.

‘I would 100% recommend volunteering with Bolton Hospice, the team you work with are just amazing. Your made to feel so welcome and special. Plus, you get to gain new skills and do something worthwhile.’
We are calling for enthusiastic individuals to join their volunteering team. You will be helping to directly support us to care for people within the local community facing life-limiting illnesses. Become a volunteer today!
