Fundraiser (Events Lead)
£21,892 - £24,157 p.a.
Full Time 37.5hrs per week
Are you highly proactive, experienced and confident events organiser looking to make a difference working on an exciting programme of fundraising events for a well-loved local charity?
The Income Generation and Communications team currently raises £4 million a year to support the work of Bolton Hospice. Our consultant-led team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, we consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.
We care for patients throughout their illness, helping to improve their wellbeing and quality of life. We also provide compassionate, dedicated and dignified care for patients at the end of their life. As our services and reach increase, so does our income target, so the successful candidate will build on our previous fundraising success and ultimately help us reach more of the people in Bolton who need us.
The Role
You will lead on the planning and delivery of the hospice’s fundraising events and engage and inspire our community of supporters. You’ll be supported by the Fundraising Manager to adapt and grow our existing events portfolio as well generate new event ideas. You will need to create intelligent and well thought out plans and contingencies.
Based within the busy fundraising team, the role involves liaising with event participants, attendees and external stakeholders including VIPs. You’ll be responsible for supporting and managing a large number of volunteers, both at events and to assist with admin. You’ll need to be able to keep your cool under pressure in order to manage competing demands for your time and respond quickly to problem solve as issues arise.
The role also requires some flexibility in order to support other members of the team with their income streams and vice versa as and when required and always in a supporter-centred way.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to make a real impact, as you will have autonomy over your own events programme, yet you’ll still be able to work flexibly within the team in order to develop your skills and ensure the best possible outcomes for both the hospice and your own development.
What you need:
An experienced event planner, you’ll be highly organised in order to develop thorough plans, juggle competing priorities and problem solve effectively. You’ll need to be creative and flexible in order to continually adapt to the changing fundraising climate and evolve the hospice’s fundraising events programme as necessary.
You will be an inspiring and enthusiastic communicator and relationship-builder and be passionate about the work of Bolton Hospice and the difference you can make. You’ll be able to use your talents to negotiate and influence stakeholders when required.
Proactive and dynamic, you’ll be able to manage an ongoing calendar of events whilst constantly looking at ways to improve. Experience of working for a charity would be an advantage, but not essential.
Why Bolton Hospice?
You will be working within a friendly and committed team in modern, open plan offices (with flexible working requests, including home working, considered). Working together with the fundraising team and reporting directly to the Fundraising Manager, you’ll have ownership of the Hospice’s events programme and the autonomy to use your skills to make a real impact. We offer our employees an attractive benefits package, including generous annual leave (starting at 35 days a year including bank holidays), a contributory stakeholder pension scheme, life assurance, membership of a healthcare cash plan and excellent training opportunities.
