Bank Cook
To supplement our permanent Catering team, our team of ‘bank staff’ provide cover for planned and unplanned shortfalls in staffing, covering vacancies and staff absences. We are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced bank Cook to provide operational cover within the hospice kitchens, as and when required, as part of our Facilities team.
£11.45 per hour

The role:
Working in a busy hospice environment, the role will support the effective running of our Catering service during periods of staff leave, absences and during busy periods. We work over a 7 day rota, between 8.00am and 6.00pm, including weekends. You will need to be capable of taking charge of the kitchen in the absence of the contracted supervisor. Duties could include ordering and taking delivery of produce, supervising staff, maintaining records and hygiene standards, as well as continuing to provide a high standard of catering. Uniform will be provided and subsidised meals are available to staff at Bolton Hospice.
What you need:
We are looking for someone with experience of working within a similar role, ideally with experience of working in a clinical or health care environment. You must have gained NVQ Level 2 minimum (or an equivalent qualification or compensating work experience). The post holder should also hold a Level 2 Food Safety certificate (or be willing to gain this qualification on appointment). You must be able to work well in a team and have good interpersonal and communication skills, along with a non-judgmental and empathetic approach. Flexibility and a commitment to the vision and values of Bolton Hospice are essential.
