Head of Retail
Due to a number of promotions and internal changes, Bolton Hospice has some exciting opportunities to join its retail team.
The team’s role is to generate income for the hospice through our nine charity shops, Furniture Plus shop, online sales, The Old Bank Café and gift shop. Everyone in the team plays a part in ensuring the smooth running of the operation, providing an excellent customer experience and maximizing profits so that more funds are available to benefit patients and their families.
The team has ambitions to generate nearly £1.6 million this year, and every penny helps the hospice’s doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home.

Full time (37.5 hrs. per week, on site or hybrid working)
£32,306 - £34,792 per annum
(Cost of living increase pending)
The role:
You will lead our successful retail operation, driving income growth and continuously improving quality through the effective leadership and development of a team of committed staff and around 500 volunteers.
You will develop and lead on the delivery of our retail strategy, including the identification of new sites and other retail opportunities.
What you need:
We are looking for an experienced leader with significant experience in managing and developing a team. You will also need to have a demonstrable track record in achieving financial targets, effectively managing resources and identifying new business opportunities.
You will be an excellent communicator and relationship builder, able to influence others and be highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects.
You will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to the hospice’s values - compassion, respect, professionalism, excellence, inclusivity and collaboration.
You may or may not have a retail management background, but if you are passionate about our cause and have transferrable skills that you think would make you successful in this role, we would love to hear from you. We already have a wealth of charity retail experience across our talented staff and volunteer team – we are now looking for someone with the vision and leadership skills to ensure continued growth and success.
