Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Service Assistant


The Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Service (MCISS) provides a comprehensive Cancer Information and Support Service to Bolton residents, so that anyone who is affected by cancer has access to the information they need and are supported appropriately. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and organised Information Assistant to join the team at Bolton Hospice.

15hrs across 3 days per week (usually Monday – Wednesday)

Band 4 Pay scale £23,949 - £26,282 pro rata
(Actual Part Time £9,580 - £10,513 per annum)

The Role:

Working with the MCISS team and our volunteers across the three centres in Bolton, you will help to support the smooth delivery of this important service for people affected by cancer. You will have contact with users of the service, assessing their needs, identifying the support required and providing the individuals with access to information and intervention. The role will need you to communicate sensitively and compassionately with patients and their families and carers and provide them with practical and emotional support.

What you need:

We are looking for someone who has good listening skills, great organisation ability, experience of using computer systems and who enjoys helping others. Ideally you will have experience of working in the healthcare setting, supporting patients emotionally & practically, ensuring they receive high quality information & support. You will also need to be a team player who enjoys creating effective working relationships through liaising regularly with the oncology teams within the Hospital & services within the community.
