Receptionist


Our team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, we consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.

We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and professional Receptionist to work within Bolton Hospice to be the first point of contact for our patients and visitors.  This will be a rewarding opportunity for an experienced receptionist to be part of our team.

£18,005 - £19,337 per annum pro rata

(Actual salary £9,112 - £9,7979 per annum)

19 hours over 2.5 days per week

The Role

This is a vital role, as the post holder will be the first point of contact for all patients and visitors to the hospice.  You will be expected to maintain effective and professional telephone communications at all times, managing the central switchboard and taking and distributing messages in an accurate and timely manner.  This is a busy role which will include greeting and providing information to visitors on arrival, accepting and recording donations brought into the hospice and liaising with nursing staff to ensure effective management of visiting procedures.

The successful candidate will work 19 hours per week, Wednesday 12.30pm to 4.30pm and Thursday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.

What you need:

You must be a highly organised and experienced receptionist with the ability to manage your time and prioritise your own workload effectively.  We are looking for someone with well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with colleagues, as well as distressed patients and their families.  You must have strong IT skills and be able to work appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.  Experience of working in a clinical environment and/or an understanding of electronic record systems would be beneficial.
