Dying Matters Awareness Week 2023

Every year, people around the country use Dying Matters Awareness Week (8th-14th May) as a moment to encouraging communities across the country to come together to talk about death, dying and grief. This year, we want you to start that conversation at work.

Strictly Learn to Dance 2023 - The Results

We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who supported this year's Strictly Learn to Dance, from our wonderful volunteers, to the amazing audience and, of course, the incredible couples themselves.

Easter opening hours - shops

Our shops and café are operating with slightly different opening hours over he Easter weekend, so, to avoid disappointment, please check before you pay a visit:

Beer festival raises £11,000

Helen Roberts and family recently hosted a beer festival, complete with live music and fun for all the family. The festival raised an incredible £11,000 for their chosen charities, including Bolton Hospice.

It's the second time Helen's organised the festival, in memory of her mum, Rosemary Smith, who was cared for at the hospice in 2021.

Coronavirus Visitor Update

Patients are now able to have all family and friends visit the Hospice, and we ask that families stagger their visiting. Due to Covid-19 we continue to maintain our infection prevention and control measures to ensure that our patients, staff and volunteers working within the Hospice are safe.

Meet John Hall, Spiritual Care & Bereavement Support Lead

“I’m John and I’m the Spiritual Care & Bereavement Support Lead at the hospice, and I’ve been here for about 6 and a half years now.

“I’d describe my role as also including lots of emotional support. That’s a really vital way of supporting patients and families through a difficult time, and what that looks like really depends on what matters most to them at the time.

Bolton Wanderers visit Bolton Hospice!

On Tuesday, in the week before Christmas, a ripple of excitement spread through the hospice as we were treated to a visit by Bolton Wanderers Official!

Patients and family members (and staff too, of course!) were very excited to meet some of the team. Rosie, Mark and Carol, who regularly attend our Wellbeing Hub, loved speaking to the players, and were grateful for their lovely gifts which were donated by the team.
